Loyd E. Williams Pipe Trades Training Center
Currently housed in a state-of-the-art, 100,000-square-foot facility in San Jose, the Loyd E. Williams Pipe Trades Training Center has for decades offered the highest quality apprentice and journey-level classes available. Accredited by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards for the State of California and affiliated with Foothill College, the Training Center offers 4 distinct apprenticeship opportunities. Residential Plumbing (our only 4 year program), Commercial Plumbing, Steamfitting & HVACR each require 5 years to complete the program. Check out the descriptions below. With over 70 instructors who bring first-rate credentials and vast field experience to the classroom and dozens of signatory contractors we can offer first rate classroom & on-the-job training.
The Plumber protects the health and safety of the community by providing pure water to residential, commercial and industrial buildings for drinking, cooking, washing, cleaning, manufacturing or personal use, and to remove waste water after it has served its purpose. All piping and plumbing fixtures must be installed in accordance with local plumbing codes and Board of Health requirements.
The Steamfitter protects our environment by properly installing piping and equipment for complex heating/air conditioning and special industrial piping systems such as semiconductor, biotechnology, and power generation.
The Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Service Mechanic insures indoor air quality by servicing and repairing all types of refrigeration equipment from the small building to larger, complex air conditioning and refrigeration units used in hospitals, skyscraper, manufacturing facilities, research and development laboratories, etc.
Chances for advancement in the trades are determined by the growth of the industry, the contractor, and the apprentice's individual skill and ambition.
